DLyte Technology

DLyte is a patented technology, also known as dry electropolishing, used for post-processing metals. This innovative method polishes, deburrs, and rounds metal parts not through abrasion, but via ion exchange between the workpiece and the process medium.

How It Works

In the DLyte process, a metal part is placed in a proprietary solid electrolyte media. Once an electric current is applied, metal ions migrate from surface peaks to the media, gently smoothing microscopic imperfections, including those inside internal cavities which cannot be accessed mechanically. DLyte’s electropolishing technology stands out as it does not use any liquid electrolyte solution in the process.

Key Factors to Consider

Material

Different parts require their individual customized process. The final result is dependant on the electrolyte formulation and process parameters.

Part Dimensions

The part’s geometry, shape, and size will determine their movement in the media, and parameters must be customized to allow for optimal media flow and electricity through the surface to achieve even homogeneity.

Custom Parameters

The parameters and polishing duration is dependant on the media size, initial roughness, desired finish, and the manufacturing process.

Supported Materials

With years of research and testing, DLyte has developed a wide variety of electrolytes for applications dealing with common industrial metals and alloys:

  • Cobalt Chrome
  • Stainless Steel
  • Carbon Steel
  • Carbides
  • Nickel Alloys
  • Aluminium
  • Copper Alloys
  • Titanium
  • Nitinol
