General

  • Which industries are using 3D printing?

Widely adopted across industries such as automotive, healthcare, aerospace, fashion, semiconductors, marine, defense, consumer electronics, and consumer goods. 3D printing is used to accelerate prototyping, improve product development, and deliver more innovative, efficient outcomes.

  • When is additive manufacturing practical for producing end-use & production parts?

It is most effective for producing complex, low- to mid-volume parts where customization, reduced upfront costs, or rapid design changes are essential. It delivers cost-effective, unique solutions that traditional manufacturing may struggle to achieve efficiently.

  • Is 3D Printing just for rapid prototyping?

While rapid prototyping is a key benefit, 3D printing goes far beyond that. It is also used for manufacturing, creating specialized tooling and fixtures, and developing customized products. Its adaptability supports innovation across the entire product lifecycle, from low-volume production to on-demand manufacturing, surpassing the limits of traditional processes.

  • Why should I choose 3D printing?

3D printing combines design freedom with efficiency, making it possible to create advanced structures, embed unique features, and tailor solutions to customer needs. It streamlines supply chains, reduces waste, and enables on-demand production, helping businesses stay innovative, sustainable, and competitive.

  • Does 3D printing replace traditional manufacturing?

Rather than replacing traditional manufacturing, 3D printing serves as a powerful complement. It excels in producing complex geometries and low-volume parts without the need for expensive tooling. When integrated with existing processes, it provides companies with faster, more flexible, and cost-efficient options.

  • What is 3D Printing?

3D printing, also known as additive manufacturing, is a process where objects are built layer by layer from a digital (CAD)file. Unlike subtractive methods that cut away material, this technique only uses the material needed. Although plastics are widely used, materials like metals, ceramics, photopolymers, bio-inks, and even food-based materials are also part of today’s applications.

  • How does 3D printing speed up product development?

3D printing speeds up prototyping and lowers costs, enabling designers to test and refine ideas quickly. By producing realistic prototypes in a short time, it allows for faster approvals, rapid design iterations, and ultimately reduces time to market while fostering innovation.

  • Product & Technologies

  • What is the purpose of dry electropolishing?

Dry electropolishing improves both the appearance and performance of metal parts. It creates a bright, smooth finish, enhances corrosion resistance, and removes surface imperfections. It also increases hygiene by making stainless steel easier to clean and less prone to bacterial buildup. Learn more about our DryLyte Electropolishing System.

  • What is the difference beteween FFF and FDM technology?

Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) is a proprietary technology owned by Stratasys, while Fused Filament Fabrication (FFF) is a general industry term. FDM systems are typically used in professional and industrial settings due to their ability to work with advanced materials, deliver high precision, and ensure part strength. Features such as enclosed, heated build chambers also increase stability and repeatability in FDM printing.

  • What is the best method for polishing steel?

Electropolishing is widely considered the superior method. Unlike mechanical polishing, which can leave micro-scratches, electropolishing uniformly removes a thin surface layer to create a mirror-like finish. It offers precise control, reaches complex geometries, and is ideal for many industrial applications. Learn more about our Metal Surface Finishing Services.

  • What 3D printing technologies are available in the Creatz3D showroom?

Our showroom features over 10 industrial-grade printers showcasing a variety of technologies, including FDM, PolyJet, P3, and SLA. We invite you to visit our showroom and facilities to explore these technologies in action, contact us to book your appointment.

  • What advantages does 3D printing bring for manufacturing?

3D printing offers quick, economical low and mid-volume production. It supports distributed manufacturing, producing essential tooling like jigs and fixtures quickly and affordably, enhancing flexibility and efficiency compared to traditional manufacturing approaches.

  • How costly is it to implement 3D Printing?

The cost depends on the technology and scale of use. While upfront investment can vary, 3D printing is often more cost-effective than traditional manufacturing for low-volume production. As applications expand, it becomes increasingly scalable and valuable as a long-term solution.

  • Services

  • Can you design a part for me?

Yes. Through our AM Consultancy, our specialists provide design services tailored to complex and critical requirements. Contact us to discuss how we can support your project.

  • How quickly can you deliver a finished print?

Most orders are completed and ready for shipping or collection within 7 working days. Timelines may vary depending on printer availability, part complexity, and required post-processing.

  • Are parts printed locally or overseas?

All parts are produced locally in our Singapore facility. This allows us to maintain strict quality control, ensure faster turnaround times, and safeguard your project data. Unlike basic "send-and-print" services, we go further by optimizing your designs to enhance both performance and functionality.

  • How does Creatz3D ensure confidentiality of my project?

When required, we establish a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) with your company to safeguard all sensitive information. This ensures your project details are fully protected and handled with the utmost discretion throughout every stage of the process.

  • Can you print from a rough sketch or drawing?

We require digital 3D files in formats such as STL, OBJ, VRML, or STP. If you have a different file type, let us know and our AM team is happy to review and advise on next steps.

  • Can I pick up my finished part instead of having it shipped?

Yes. Parts can be collected directly from our production office in Singapore. Simply confirm your preferred pickup date and time with our AM team.

  • What are the pros and cons of using service printing?

Service printing is a great entry point into 3D printing. It provides direct access to AM specialist who can guide you through material and technology options, while also eliminating the need for costly equipment purchases. You only pay for production and consumables for your project. It's also especially useful for businesses that already own a printer but need capabilities beyond their current setup.

  • Why not rely entirely on service printing instead of buying a 3D printer?

It depends on your needs. If you only print occasionally or require multiple technologies, service printing is often the better option. However, if 3D printing becomes integral to your business model or you want to bring production in-house for efficiency and scalability, investing in your own 3D printer typically delivers greater long-term value.

  • What can product designers achieve with 3D printing?

Enables designers to streamline workflows, maintain full design control, and iterate rapidly. It reduces costs while producing detailed prototypes that closely resemble final products in both form and function—encouraging creativity and innovation.
