Customer Profile

OXY Implant is an Italian-made dental implant system, embodying 30 years of dedicated research and development in dental implantology. It offers surgeons a range of high-quality devices, suited for complex clinical situations.

In working on the start-up of Biomec’s digital department, I chose Stratasys’ DentaJet 3D printer because of its fundamental accuracy and reliability. - Giacomo Moretti, General Manager, ODS – Oxy Implant

Challenges

Traditional approaches to producing surgical guides and implant tools relied on metal bushings and multiple fabrication steps, which were time-consuming, costly, and limited in design flexibility. These methods also increased the risk of damaging intricate geometries during post-processing — a major source of inefficiency. Biomec required a comprehensive digital workflow solution that could streamline production, improve consistency, and meet the demanding accuracy standards of dental and maxillofacial surgery.

Solutions

Leveraging PolyJet™ technology, the Stratasys J5 and J3 DentaJet printers enable the simultaneous production of multiple materials - including biocompatible surgical guides, dental and prosthetic models, and flexible gingiva masks within a single print job. The J5 DentaJet’s full-color printing capability also enhances pre-operative planning and supports high-fidelity teaching models based on real-life cases.

This combination of precision, reliability, and material versatility allowed the company to develop a multi-material modular jig system, advancing digital workflows that are faster and more cost-effective than traditional metal-based alternatives.

To replace a partial or full jawbone, the patient’s fibula is used to create a new mandible. Using our DentaJet 3D printers we are able to design and produce biocompatible cutting jigs to cut the correct portion of the fibula and vessels. - Giacomo Moretti, General Manager, ODS – Oxy Implant

Impact

Biomec successfully transformed its digital production workflow, achieving greater accuracy, shorter turnaround times, improved design freedom and strengthening Biomec’s position as an innovator in dental and maxillofacial implantology.
